Actor Clint Eastwood Looks Back on His Film Career

Eastwood joins Fresh Air with his biographer Richard Schickel. Eastwood reached stardom in the spaghetti westerns such as "A Fistful of Dollars," and "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly." Then he became known for his role in a number of films as police inspector Harry Callahan, otherwise known as "Dirty Harry." He was director and played the lead in "Play Misty for Me," and "Unforgiven." Eastwood is an avid jazz fan; he directed "Bird," which starred Forest Whitaker as Charlie Parker, and produced "Straight No Chaser" a documentary about Thelonious Monk.
